The Sandglass is a device of the alchemist's bench used in alchemy to measure the passage of time.

The recipes usually contain order how many times you have to wait when something is boiling, in this case it is necessary to turn the sandglass.

It is notable that one can negate the use of the sandglass altogether with practice. For starters, any step of "boil for one turn of the sandglass" can be done with three pulls of the bellows, which will initiate a boil that lasts for one turn of the sdanglass. From here, simply by listening to the sound of the boiling or watching the fire, one can hear the boiling simmer down and the flames dim down before the bubbles disappear. This is the moment where the player can pull the bellows once more to prolong the boil, resulting in the boil lasting for yet another turn of the sandglass. This allows the player to time the boiling for two, three, four and more "turns of the sandglass" without need of the sandglass at all.

Note for recipes that call for a potion to "cool", this simply means to let the bubbles disappear. The heat beneath the Cauldron can still be present, in most cases.
